Stewartry Camera Club hosted a well organised and very hospitable D&G Battle in Twynholm Village Hall on 9th March. Six clubs competed, with Dumfries Camera Club retaining their title and Mick Durham’s ‘Fighting Eagles’ judged best image of the evening. The four round knockout competition was judged by Clive Watkins from Townend Camera Club; his thoughtful and constructive approach is likely to make him a much sought after judge in South-West Scotland from now on.
Impressively, all 15 Dumfries CC images went through to round three and 10 were in Clive’s final selection, gaining full marks. Particular congratulations go to Sheila Farries and Kirsten Bax who currently compete in PDI League ‘E’ but whose images, ‘Retired’ and ‘Physalis,’ were justifiably among the Judge’s favourites, earning the maximum score.
Many thanks to the Stewartry club for an enjoyable evening. It’s hoped that more clubs from the region will enter this fun competition next year.

I think I am right in saying that this was the first time that Sheila, Kirsten and Elena have had images selected to represent the club in an external competiton - congratulations on very impressive debuts.
Correct. And they looked fantastic.
The score must be wrong though? I think we would have 55,
but it was enough..
If the scoring system was the same as last year we got 56 with Mick's bonus point but David Young announced 60 - unless I misheard.
He did say 60 but he never mentioned the bonus point - or gave anyone the opportunity to check the scores.
My recollection is that the 'bonus point' was more than 1. I thought he followed it by saying that if the winning image had come from Stewartry CC then the bonus would have been 20, or something like that.
Anyway, well done to all our club's entries and congratulations to Mick on having the top image.
