Dumfries CC joined 37 other clubs from each of the 15 PAGB Federations to contest the 2017 PDI Championship in Warwick. The judges on 15th July were Roger Hence, Gabriel O’Shaughnessy and Richard Speirs.
The first eight images were submitted in advance and steady results placed the Club 6th equal after the first round. A further eight photographs were selected for round two but lower scores with a late, and very welcome, ’15’ meant a tense wait for the combined totals. The top eight clubs qualify for the final and a guaranteed place in the 2018 Championship. Smethwick PS was a clear winner at this stage with Dumfries missing out on the final by a single point and competing for the Plate.
Smethwick consolidated their lead in the Final and were five points clear of Wigan 10 Photo Club in second place. Dumfries won the Don Morrison Plate, finishing one point ahead of Tamworth PC.
No Scottish entrant finished in the top eight so only the first and second placed clubs at the SPF Championship will compete at Warwick in 2018.
There will be a full report on the competition at the beginning of the new season.
