Saskia Coulson and Colin Tennant were welcomed inside the club on opening night. We had a full house of old and new members, which is always a plus for our speaker.
Saskia and Colin talked about the "Art of Seeing" and their other work. Their photography combines videography, still images, abstract, fine art, drone, and, above all, they defy the rules of general photography.
They showed movies from expeditions in Bhutan, Svalbard, and the Artic. Each of these highly varied sets of photographs and videos is compiled to make an exhibition or photographic essay.
An example of this can be found in the trailer for the mini film " Fractured" Coulson & Tennant - photography, filmmaking and research | Motion | 1 (wearectproductions.com)
Fractured aims to depict the natural history of the arctic areas as well as the fragile environment that remains. Following the depletion of nature and the advancement of technology and mankind.
When visiting regions like the Arctic or Antarctic, they are continually exposed to the elements, which is a constant source of concern for their equipment.
As well as travelling to lots of different locations, Saskia and Colin also do local projects, in Southwest Scotland, Easterhouse in Glasgow and can be found in A’ the Airts in Sanquhar.
A great night was had by all, please check out their page to see their work.
